7 Week Beginners Evening Throwing Course in Schull

About the Course

This 7-week evening course provides the opportunity to learn how to throw your own pots on a pottery wheel, creating everyday useful objects or your own piece of art.

Time on the wheel, in a small and supportive class-room environment, is a great way to express your creativity, learn a new skill, or just take some time out for yourself.

In a small class, expertly supported by our teachers, you will learn how to work with clay on your own wheel, and realise your designs from 2D to 3D. Discover the steps behind making pottery and follow the lifecycle from a lump of clay to a finished piece. We will cover the whole process of making a finished pot, and give you time to practice as you learn.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Schull Hub!

Where and What Time: This workshop runs for 7 Tuesday evenings from 7pm to 9pm in our Arran Street East Creative Hub in Schull starting September 13th.

Cost: €340

Time: 7pm-9pm

If you would like to give this Workshop as a gift please look at our Gift Cards options here.

Course Features:

- Demonstrations by one of our excellent teachers of how to throw clay on a wheel, and tutoring you on your own wheel as you learn.

- Practice on your own wheel with unlimited clay and your own wareboard. We will provide you with a wareboard, poly sheet, and a name label for your wareboard at the beginning of each course. This is to identify and wrap your work and keep it from drying out too quickly. Please take good care of your board, and respect your poly sheet, as you will need it for the duration of the course.

- At the end of your course we will ask you to select your favourite 3 pieces that you made throughout the 7 weeks, and we will fire and glaze them for you, and contact you when they are ready for collection - usually within a few weeks after the class.

- You may also take home with you whatever unfired pieces you have on your wareboard on the last day of your course, to dry, (and potentially decorate) yourself. Please bring your own protective wrapping (tissue paper etc. to transport them safely). Please note that unfired pieces are decorative and cannot hold water!
