3-day Throwing Workshop
The 3-day Throwing Workshop
On this 3-day course, our Arran Street East potters will take a small group through the fundamental skills of throwing (working on a potter's wheel to shape the clay), and handbuilding (shaping the clay using simple tools and your hands).
Over the 3 day sessions, between 10am - 5pm each day, you'll learn about materials and processes, and work with your hands putting knowledge into practice, culminating in the production of your own two mugs.
You'll look at preparing the clay, making the mug shape, designing the surface, and making handles, and you will have some time for experimentation in the studio too.
The course takes place over 3 days in our lovely Arran Street East studio opposite the Dublin Fruit and Vegetable Market.
We'll provide all the materials you'll need. All you need to do is pick a date that suits you and look forward to getting started working with clay.
At the end of the day you will have two small pieces you made, that we will fire and glaze for you, and we will contact you when they are ready for collection - usually within 2 months after the class.
Or you can leave your pot with us to be fired, and you can book onto one of our our Glazing Workshops to learn how to glaze your pot yourself.
