About this class

This class teaches you the introductory skills to throw a pot on a pottery wheel.

In a small class guided by our expert potter, you will work on your own pottery wheel to shape clay, learning throwing, centering, and pulling techniques and making pottery pieces which you can take home with you to airdry (please note these pieces can be used for display only and are not watertight).

Learning Outcomes

You will develop elementary skills required to understand how to throw a pot on a wheel, including:

- handling your clay

- your pottery tools

- centering and pulling a pot on your wheel

- taking your pot off your wheel

- taking care of your wheel station

This is the first skills step on your pottery journey, and if you would like to further expand your knowledge and experience of working with clay we invite you to book onto our one of our Evening Courses.

Where: Arran Street East, Main Street, Schull, West Cork

Time: 10am - 12pm

Cost: €60 / per morning
